About:
Iranian Registry of Hydatid Disease (IRHD) is a hospital- based registry.
All patients referring to medical centers with a definitive diagnosis of hydatid cyst by imaging methods i.e. ultrasonography and/or CT scan / MRI) are eligible to be registered in the Iranian Registry of Hydatid Disease.
Patient information including demographic data, past medical history , past and present treatments are documented in the registry forms. Following data entry and submission of patient records in the system by registrars, the integrity of data registry i.e. data completeness, consistency and accuracy will be evaluated by the persons in charge of data quality control.
To achieve high-quality data, the Iranian Registry of Hydatid Disease focused on an integrated network of attending physicians of all related specialties, nurses and other care-givers as well as the patients. Governed by steering committee, IRHD is providing the technical infrastructure and educational needs for the universities participating in the registry.
Disease surveillance and estimating the present status of hydatid disease in the country, providing information and evidence-based guidelines to physicians and policy makers and developing education and research networks as per WHO recommendations and guidelines are the most important assignments of the Iranian registry of hydatid disease.
The Research Center for Hydatid Disease in Iran has been part of the European Register of Cystic Echinococcosis (ERCE) since 2105.
